چکیده

The objective of this study was to examine the relative sensitivity and specificity of nuclear scintigraphy compared with other commonly used diagnostic modalities for the diagnosis of avulsion fracture at the origin of the suspensory ligament (ASLO) in horses. Sixty horses presented with lameness localized to the suspensory origin; 34 horses had a diagnosis of ASLO and 26 horses (control group) had a diagnosis of high suspensory disease without avulsion fracture. The medical records of all 60 horses were examined and the sensitivity and specificity of each imaging modality, alone and in combination, were compared and the diagnostic power of each modality was calculated. Sensitivity was highest for scintigraphy (0.95) and lowest for ultrasonography

Accuracy of SPECT bone scintigraphy in diagnosis of meniscal tears

Introduction: Scintigraphy has been considered as a useful tool in the assessment of meniscal tears. Our objective was to assess the accuracy of single photon emission tomography (SPECT), using MRI as the gold standard, in the diagnosis of meniscal tears. Materials and Methods: Between January 2003 and February 2005, 45 patients were studied with SPECT and MRI. Results: The respective sen...

Sensitivity of gallium scintigraphy for evaluation of recurrent lymphoma: Comparison of planar and SPECT imaging

Introduction: Although PET scanning using F-18[FDG] is considered the superior radiotracer for tumnor imaging, Gallium-67 is still in use for some malignancies such as lymphoma and hepatoma. One of the strategies to improve the diagnostic accuracy of Gallium is to perform SPECT which is reported to be more sensitive compared to planar imaging. In this study we compa...

The potential role of radiolabeled red blood cell scintigraphy in diagnosis of endometriosis

Introduction: Endometriosis is a gynecological disease and disorder that occurs when endometrial cells are shed through the fallopian tubes and are implanted on the surfaces of pelvis and abdomen. They form lesions that respond to hormones of the menstural cycle and will stimulate inflammation. It is controversial whether [99mTc]Tc-RBC scan would be sufficient for lo...

Efficacy of 99mTc-Ciprofloxacin and 67Ga-Citrate scintigraphy to discriminate infection foci induced by Staphylococcus aureus from sterile inflammation induced by Carrageenan in rat

Introduction: This study was launched to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of 99mTc-Ciprofloxacin to distinguish infection foci induced by staphylococcus aureus and inflammation lesions induced by carrageenan in the rat foot in comparison with 67Ga-Citrate scintigraphy. Methods: The labeling and quality control of 99mTc-Ciprofloxacin kits have been perfo...

Accuracy of MRI in Comparison with Arthroscopic Findings in the Diagnosis of Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Meniscus Tears

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is of great aid in the diagnosis of knee lesions. Nevertheless, arthroscopy has remained the reference standard for the diagnosis of internal derangements of the knee, against which alternative diagnostic modalities should be compared. This study was designed to assess the value of MRI and clinical examination in the diagnosis of Anterior Cruciate Li...
